Shot and Grit Blasting

We recommend Shot or Grit Blasting as the perfect surface preparation on metal. It’s a surface treatment technique that uses particulate grains (medium) propelled under high velocity.

The process is a extremely effective for removing rust and contamination on metal substrates. It’s also employed to change the coarseness or smoothness of a product’s surface before coating. The abrasive medium is propelled under force using  compressed air.

Blasting using “shot” is a process that uses spherical particles, whereas “grit” blasting uses angular or sub-angular grains. Both processes force the medium through a jet nozzle to remove rust and paint.

It is an effective way of cleaning and preparing surfaces for paint finishing and bond preparation.

Aqua Blasting

This process combines water/air and a medium mixture, accelerated at high pressure from a nozzle to provide an extremely effective method of cleaning non-ferrous and ferrous metals such as mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel, copper, brass etc.

Aqua Blasting is both highly effective and gentle at the same time – The process cleans very effectively without removing any of the underlying metal or substrate. This allows for the cleaning of delicate parts and soft metals. The combination of water and medium known as slurry lubricates the item being cleaned. The result is a satin finish with no risk of damage to the components.
